Delphi and Access Walkthrough

Part three, connecting the controls - you only need to do this once :)

This part is tricky, because it relies on the right Access driver being installed on your computer.  Follow the steps exactly and it should work.  If you're trying to do this at home, you may need to download and install the Access driver, which is available here.

Make the database connection

Click on the FDConnection1 control that you've just added to the form.

At the bottom left of the screen, below the properties, you'll see 'Connection Editor ....'

Click that.

Now you're back in the Delphi main screen.  We need to make two changes to the connection properties

Moment of Truth

If the Connected changes to True, you've succeeded.

If there are driver problems (and this is quite likely) you will  get an error message at this point.

It's worth trying a few times to see if you can make this work.

Part four:  Connecting the rest of the controls (much easier).
